Low tire pressure light: what it means and what to do

Check soon
SAFETY FIRST

If a tire is flat or the car pulls or shakes, slow down and pull over somewhere safe. Don’t use your phone while you drive.

What it means

One or more tires are low on air. Low tires wear out fast and use more gas.

Is it safe to drive?

It is usually OK to drive carefully, but get it checked soon.

What to do

  1. Look at each tire for a nail or cut
  2. Add air to the number on the driver door sticker (PSI)
  3. If the light comes back, you may have a slow leak

General help, not a diagnosis. Every car is a little different: your owner’s manual has the exact meaning of each light, and a mechanic can tell you for sure. Costs in the app are rough estimates. Check for open recalls with your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls (repairs for recalls are free at the dealer).
